Gas station employee shot during attempted robbery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An employee at a Gate gas station on Collins Road was shot in the arm early Thursday morning during an attempted robbery, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

According to police, a man came into the Gate convenience store at the intersection of Collins and Whispering Pines Drive with a handgun and demanded money from the safe from the workers at the front counter.

The man fired multiple shots at the employees, hitting one in the arm several times.

The employee was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition being treated for his injuries.

Police said the would-be robber, who was wearing a burgundy hoodie, ran off without getting any money from the business.

Detectives responded to the scene, canvassed the area for video surveillance, and spoke with witnesses.
