It’s a great day for a parade!

Be sure to pack your sun protection & patience when heading to the beach

Sunday outlook (maxuser)

You’re waking up to a warm, yet breezy morning across our region. When the sun rises at 6:46 a.m., temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 60s, low-70s at the beaches.

Sunday is shaping up to be a spectacular day for just about any activity either inside or out. Highs in the low-to-mid-80s under partly cloudy skies.

Going to the Opening of the Beaches parade this afternoon? Be sure to pack a cooler to stay hydrated, plenty of sun protection, and... your patience! Traffic will be thick in Jacksonville Beach near the parade route.

Winds will be lighter this morning but expect an easterly breeze up to 10-15 mph, gusts over 20 mph at times later this afternoon. You’ll see more sun today, as well. UV Index is positioned to be very high, and if you’re outside for longer than 15 minutes, you’ll want to protect your eyes and skin.

The first week of May is steering towards hot! By mid-week, upper 80s return to the forecast and we’ll likely see 90s again before next weekend.

Hazards: High rip current risk from the SE Georgia coast all the way to Volusia County
